Borrowing and Returning
Self-service machines are available in all our libraries, generally located near to the issue/information desks.
Library users are encouraged to use the machines for borrowing and returning books and videos: just follow the simple instructions on the screen. Staff will assist new users or give advice should problems occur.
You will need your university ID card to borrow items.

There is usually no need to come into the library to renew items on loan to you. Instead, you can renew them yourself using the catalogue or by telephoning our telephone renewals service. If you have the items with you in the library, you may renew them using the self-service machines. Please remember you will not be able to renew any item that has a reservation (hold) on it or if you owe more than £40.00 in library charges. For further details click on the link below:

If you require an item that is not in the library's stock and which is relevant to your course, you may place a request for it by using the library catalogue. Click on the link below for more details.

Checking your library account
The library catalogue will also give you access to your library account with information on:
  • How many loans you have
  • Items you have reserved
  • Inter-library loans
  • Unpaid library charges

You can also:

  • Change your PIN (use the Modify your PIN option)
  • Change your email address (use the Modify Personal Information option)

To access your account click on the link below and either enter your network username and password OR select login with library ID.
